2006 telefilm New Voices Call
The New Voices Call provides an opportunity for emerging and mid-career designers, artists, and technologists to showcase their latest innovations in digital media technologies. Companies, design teams, digital media artists and other content creators are eligible to submit to the call.
This year participants will have the opportunity to express the individual role within larger systems, be they political, social or corporate, through their own unique and personalized modifications to off-the-shelf products. Modification possibilities are endless and may range from personal computers to clothing; from video games and cell phones to cars or dwellings. The do-it-yourself aspect of digifest 2006: mods means that the potential for participation is wide-ranging and encompasses various skill types.
Each year 8-12 winners of the juried digifest New Voices Call are invited to Toronto, Canada to showcase their work at one of digifest's high-profile venues, which include the Harbourfront Centre, Ontario Science Centre and Design Exchange. In 2006 digifest will showcase the most innovative transitions in product design from modification. Work by selected presenters will be installed or displayed providing the opportunity for artists and designers to introduce fresh ideas to an extensive audience.
