The Art, Form, and Function of Gilt Bronze in the French InteriorThe Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
Both functional and highly decorative gilt-bronze mounts and bronzes d'ameublement, such as light fixtures, fireplace fittings, and clocks, played an important role in the French interior through the late 17th and early 19th centuries. This exhibition centers on the use of gilt bronze as well as on the designs and techniques involved in the casting, chasing, and gilding of bronze objects.
