Sema + Murat Soygenis : Sections 1991-2001Work by AIA Continental Europe member Murat Soygenis, AIA with Sema Soygenis, Istanbul architects and teaching professionals, was on display at the Building Information Centre in Istanbul in December 2004. Among the recent contemporary design projects were industrial plants, residential buildings, urban design projects and furniture design.
The process and final built-unbuilt projects were illustrated through a series of sketches, drawings, models and computer renderings. Each project displayed its kit of parts through the use of ordinary materials and innovative detailing.
Sema and Murat Soygenis practiced in the United States after receiving their education in Istanbul and Buffalo, New York (SUNY) until establishing their own architectural studio in 1990. Winners of numerous awards, the projects they produced since 1982 are published in various magazines, books and newspapers; and exhibited in Turkey and the United States.
Murat Soygenis, born in 1961 in Ankara, received his architectural degree in Istanbul in 1982 and State University of New York at Buffalo in 1985. He worked in the United States as design architect between the years 1985 and 1994.
