![]() Green Design: Creative Sustainable Designs for the Twenty-First CenturyIn this timely book, author Marcus Fairs helps readers understand the shift of green design from marginal to mainstream by featuring products and buildings that address immediate concerns about global warming and environmental degradation.Through vast architectural projects to modest one-off pieces of salvaged furniture, the book shows how the design world is responding to the environmental challenges of this century. Author Fairs demonstrates key developments in sustainable design as seen in lighting, houseware, furniture, textiles, products, interiors, architecture, and transportation, including the innovative use of fuel-cell technologies and ultra-lightweight materials. The book shows how the introduction of eco-friendly materials is changing the products around us and charts the rise of low-energy lighting sources and their impact on lighting design. Emerging trends in green design are also covered, from recycling (reusing existing objects to create new products) to ethical sourcing (ensuring products come from sustainable sources). By presenting existing green innovations as well as visionary projects, Green Design paints a bright future in which technology and ethics merge for the benefit of people and the planet. more Green Design: Creative Sustainable Designs for the Twenty-First Century design directory Green Design: Creative Sustainable Designs for the Twenty-First Century > Sustainable Design Books added by Levent OZLER |

![]() Architectural Spatiality: the Dialectic Between the Concepts of Raum and BekleidungThe subject of this book is twofold - a concept and its meaning, an architectural culture and its preoccupation. The architectural culture is that of Vienna during the last twenty-five years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, where the themes discussed represented the paradoxical nature of architecture and cities in response to modern industrial society. The concept in question is, or appears at first sight to be, our own Twenty-First century concept in its infancy: the concept of space (Raum), which was first explicitly formulated as an architectural term during the 1890s. This book examines the meanings of space in relation to the notion of enclosure and cladding (Bekleidung), particularly in the related work of five theorists and architects: August Schmarsow, Gottfried Semper, Camillo Sitte, Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos. more Architectural Spatiality: the Dialectic Between the Concepts of Raum and Bekleidung design directory Architectural Spatiality > Architecture Books added by Levent OZLER |

![]() VetroVentilato: The Glass That Breathes Gives Big Energy SavingsVetroVentilato is the new solution to the problem of thermal and acoustic insulation of glass.VetroVentilato is innovative because, in summer, it expels the heat that gathers within glass windows and, during the winter, it conveys this heat inside the building. This is made possible by a motorized fan which is regulated by external temperature sensors and produces forced ventilation inside the glazing. The triple glazing system is only 50 mm thick while the double glazing system, which is fitted with a microperforated technical curtain, is a slim 25 mm. The result is extraordinary thermal insulation and soundproofing which surpass stringent EU regulations. more www.vet... (55) added by Levent OZLER |
