One of the most influential British architects of our time, Richard Rogers has established himself and his practice at the forefront of today's architectural culture through such high-profile projects as the Pompidou Centre, the headquarters for Lloyd's of London, the Millennium Dome, the National Assembly for Wales and Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
Richard Rogers + Architects - From the House to the City will present a detailed survey of Rogers' work.
This spans the early years with Norman and Wendy Foster and Su Rogers at Team 4 in the 1960s and designing the Pompidou Centre with Renzo Piano in the 1970s, to the establishment of Richard Rogers Partnership - now Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners - and the numerous projects designed by the practice and built throughout the world over the past four decades.
The projects are arranged in colour-coded sections, with each "urban block" evoking an architectural theme which examines a range of projects through new and archive models, photographs, drawings and films.
In each thematic area - Transparent, Legible, Green, Lightweight, Public, Urban and Systems - projects that are particularly representative of that theme are explored.
Rogers' early career and influences are examined in an "Early Work" section, and current projects by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners are featured in a "Work in Progress" section.

The book Architectural Epicentres: Inventing Architecture, Intervening in Reality presents seven architectural productions of the 20th and 21st centuries: Mexican architecture which gained world prominence in the 1950s and 1970s, Brazil's "irrational modernism", the "extended rationalism" of Finnish architecture of the 1950s, the Swiss Ticino Tendenza, the Super Dutch phenomenon of the late 1980s, the architectural production of Spain's Barcelona and Bilbao, and the emerging architecture of Slovenia today.
These productions are approached and analysed through a highly specific set of optics, as of architectural epicentres.
That is the architectural practice, which is not a continuity of its own tradition, nor the logical result of the circumstances and conditions within which it is made.
This is a practice that establishes and affirms itself through the tremors - the tremors of the conditions of its own situation including its own knowledge and tradition.

A world preview for the first images of the Klubb Rouge, the eagerly awaited restaurant designed by rising design star, Imaad Rahmouni, soon to open in Bejing to warm up the Olympic nights.
In the wake of the success of Shanghai's Bar Rouge, the French architect (former pupil of Philippe Starck) puts his signature to this new restaurant set to become a must for the sparkling Chinese capital.
Its distinctive feature is a cascade of glass and light created by Andromeda.
A decorative lighting creation with unprecedented technical and aesthetic characteristics - 650 irregular Murano glass spheres, blown and shaped by hand and arranged in four rows with 22 cascades each for a total of 88.
A presence which takes up a total surface area of 82 square metres and is the characterising feature of the restaurant, becoming its iconographic and identifying element.
The exclusive hand working of the glass is accompanied by latest generation lighting technology - 8000 LEDs and 250 spotlights powered by fibre optics provide diffuse atmospheric lighting.
The colour red which characterises the restaurant concept as a whole and also inspires its name is the absolute star of the work.
