Arquitectum announced its 8th International Contest "London 2008".
Theme of the competition is a movable architecture gallery, containing and distributing design to the city; travels across the River Thames to connect the various art spaces and collect visitors along the river; especially in the South Bank.
The exhibition space should adapt to the movement of the river, to the different requirements of an exhibition and the artist, and to the weather in London; meaning summer and winter potentialities.
Competition starts April 1st, 2008 and ends July 20th, 2008.

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is an innovative multipurpose centre dedicated to music, theatre, education and culture.
It opened recently in Atlanta (Georgia) with the aim of encouraging experiences able to promote access to the arts and stimulate the quality of the city's economic growth.
Home of the Atlanta Opera and Atlanta Ballet, it is the result of a cultural investment worth 145 million dollars centred around the ability of the architecture and decorative elements to boost urban improvement.
The symbolism and image are therefore of fundamental importance to express the impetus towards beauty, art and innovation, including in terms of the sentiments.
In this context, Andromeda with its light sculptures was called on to provide decorative elements able to stimulate the emotions, characterise the spaces and express the Centre's artistic vocation.
The architectural structure, work of the Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates, Inc. studio, consists in a 2750 seat theatre, ball and conference rooms, internal courtyards and terraces, restaurants and bars.
Impressive in its asymmetrical linearity, the Energy Centre stands out on the city's skyline with its characteristic squashed spiral shape.

The AIA New York Chapter announced today this year's recipients of the organization's coveted Design Awards.
The winners represent exceptional work in three categories for architectural excellence: interiors, architecture, and projects (unbuilt).
Given either "honors" or "merit" citations, each winner has been recognized as "unique and exemplary in its originality" by the distinguished jury including David Adjaye, Ada Karmi-Melamede, and Pamela Babey.
"The AIA New York Chapter's Design Awards program is intended to increase awareness of outstanding design by New York architects, as well as projects within the city," says James McCullar, FAIA, 2008 AIA New York Chapter President.
"The awards also honor the architects, clients and design consultants who work together to improve New York's built environment."
Judged by this year's panel of eminent jurors (listed below), the award recipients were selected out of a record crop of 400 submissions from architects across the United States and 12 foreign countries.
Winning projects are by well-known designers such as Steven Holl and Tod Williams Billie Tsien as well as emerging talents including WORK Architecture Company and Zakrzewski + Hyde Architects.
"Collectively, these award-winning projects show that design excellence matters," said Rick Bell, FAIA, Executive Director of the AIA New York Chapter.
