PBICA presents the first U.S. museum show of the Slovenian-born artist, architect, and sculptor Marjetica Potrc. The installations are recreations of her "anthropological urbanism," wherein she explores government public housing versus the more personal housing solutions the poor have used to build their own spaces.

 An exhibit of 10 modern homes designed in the 1930s by architects such as Hugh Stubbins FAIA, Eleanor Raymond FAIA, and Carl Koch FAIA is on display now at the BSA. The exhibit includes massing models, building documentation, and analyses of single-family residences by students at the Wentworth Institute of Technology under the direction of Prof. John Ellis AIA and DOCOMOMO leader Gary Wolf AIA.  The Architecture, Planning and Design Program of the New York State Council on the Arts has announced the availability of project grants for professionals in the design and planning fields through its Independent Projects Category. Grants of up to $10,000 will be available for architects, landscape architects, planners, designers, and scholars to realize specific projects that advance the field and contribute to the public's understanding of the designed environment. Only New York State residents are eligible to apply. Registration deadline is March 1st.

 Frank Gehry, a Toronto native, has designed a new building for the Art Gallery of Ontario. Scheduled to break ground early next year, the $198 million expansion will enlarge the museum by 75,000 square feet, adding 40 percent more exhibition space. The design includes a 600-foot-long glass and titanium façade, new galleries for sculpture and contemporary art, and additional meeting places for visitors. The expansion will be completed by late 2007.
