A manifesto for new collective housing
ATELIER KEMPE THILL
This article describes some of the new effects in mass housing with the intention to give a new outlook towards housing. The article is based on demographic research during 2001 in our office. Furthermore most of the ideas and conclusions relate to work on 10 housing competitions between 1998-2002 and our building experience on various housing projects in the Netherlands.

Suddenly everyone is talking about affordable housing-the pent-up need for it, the new forms it should take, and how to realize the inventive schemes surfacing through competitions and exhibitions.

Liège, Belgium.
Liège is a major node in the European high speed rail network; an indispensable link between London, Paris, Brussels and Germany.
The new Liège Guillemins station will link two very distinct areas of Liége, previously divided by the railway tracks, the north side towards the city, a typical run-down 19th century urban area, and the Cointe Hill to the south, a landscaped residential area.
The concept for the design is transparency and an urban dialog with the city. Transparency is translated by the monumental vault, constructed of glass and steel,

Management Headquarters
Maranello, Italy.
The design for the new Management Headquarters by Massimiliano Fuksas, for Ferrari S.p.A, was the winning project in an International Competition. Construction of the new Ferrari Complex in Maranello, home town of the Ferrari factoria and the Scuderia Ferrari, started in 1997 with completion of the 150,000 square meter area planned for 2005.
