 AIANY 2010 Design Awards Winners AnnouncedAIA New York Chapter announced the winners of the 2010 Design Awards.Four juries - architecture, interiors, unbuilt work, and urban design - reviewed 425 entries, selecting thirty-four winners. The Design Awards is a prestigious competition held annually by the AIANY to honor excellence in architectural design for projects in New York City and by New York City architects worldwide. After the Design Award winners are announced, the architecture and related communities convene for a celebratory luncheon with over 600 attendees.  The New School President's Forum with Henriette SuhrThe New School announced An Evening with Henriette Suhr on March 1, 2010 in the Theresa Lang Community and Student Center.New School President Bob Kerrey and Joel Towers, dean of Parsons The New School for Design will engage in an informal discussion with Parsons alumna Henriette Suhr, a renowned former interior design executive and celebrated creator of Rocky Hills a well-known garden estate in Mt. Kisco, New York. Suhr spent her early years in Paris, where she attended the Parsons Paris interior design program. After graduating in 1937 and moving to the United States in 1941, Suhr went on to a distinguished career as an interior designer with a specialty in home furnishing displays. As head of Bloomingdale's decorating department, she revolutionized interior design by introducing contemporary American and European furniture designers to the U.S. market and displaying their work in lavish model rooms.  RIBA Recognised as a Leading Business Brand for Third Year RunningThe Royal Institute of British Architects has today been named the UK's 114th leading business brand, in the prestigious Top 500 Business Superbrands list for 2010.The announcement follows a robust selection process administered by The Centre for Brand Analysis. The Institute increased its ranking by 76 places from last year's position, placing it ahead of global brands including CNN, Deutsche Bank and Castrol. This is the third time the RIBA has featured in the Business Superbrands list; in 2009, the Institute was ranked at no.190, having been initially listed at no.244 in 2008. The RIBA was assessed using strict judging criteria tapping into the views of an independent and voluntary council of experts and over 1500 business professionals, the latter surveyed by research agency YouGov. Of the thousands of brands considered for inclusion, only the top 500 are deemed to be Business Superbrands. As a Business Superbrand, the RIBA is recognised as having the finest reputation in its field; it has also been judged on quality, reliability and distinction.
