Highland Housing Fair: Architectural Design CompetitionThe Highland Housing Fair (HHF) will be a first for Scotland.
It is based upon similar models found in mainland Europe, particularly Finland where historically the housing fair concept has proven very successful in stimulating quality design and innovation in Finnish housing.
The HHF aspires to be a catalyst to prompt a similar kind of change within the Highlands and throughout Scotland.
By creating an exemplar community, it will act as a model for future housing design and development.
The HHF is scheduled to take place in Inverness in August 2009.
It will showcase in excess of 50 new homes with a diversity of housing types chosen by means of a competition.
The Homes will be open to the public as a ticketed event that will run for a month.
The Exhibition will be held on the Exhibition Site and it is expected that in excess of 30,000 visitors will attend the HHF.
Entrants will compete on the basis of design to purchase and build on serviced plots on the Site.
The intention is that the competition submissions will be displayed during Highland 2007 Year of Culture as part of the Six Cities Design Festival coinciding with the 2007 RIAS Annual Convention.
The Homes will be built for the opening of the HHF in August 2009.
The deadline for registration is 28 Feb 07 (5.00pm).
