Ice-Wall Cometh to Reebok Store: Hockey Theme at NYC Site

Reebok this fall will open what may be one of the cooler stores in New York - complete with its own wall of ice.

The Canton company will launch NHL Powered by Reebok, a new flagship store in partnership with the National Hockey League, in October.

With 3,750 square feet of retail space, the store will sell NHL-licensed clothing, headwear, accessories and equipment, and Rbk footwear and clothing.

A hockey-themed Starbucks will be located at the rear of the store.

Gensler New York's design of the retail space incorporates aspects of the game of hockey into its architecture, fixtures and materials.

A floating hockey stick sculpture made of over 400 Rbk sticks and interlaced with flat-panel monitors will hang over the cashier's desk.

Another centerpiece will be a wall made of real ice that will serve as a backdrop for store merchandise.

Conceived by Miami artist Terje Lundaas, the ice wall will be visible through the glass storefront, and customers will be allowed to write or draw on the glass just as they would on a frosty window.
