Cersaie Exhibition Ceramics Design ShowOnce again the Cersaie exhibition will host the "Involucri, Exercises in architecture" ceramics show, an exhibition of experimental design applied to ceramics and tiles promoted by Assopiastrelle and by design school Domus Academy.
68 young ceramics design students from 24 countries, supervised by 7 high-profile professional designers, will exhibit 22 projects showcasing their innovative vision of design, in which tiles are functionally and creatively integrated with the surrounding architecture.
The exhibition title, Involucri (housings), highlights the architecture-based nature of the event. The works of the students will attempt to mixing design and architecture, enhancing the role of tiles, now seen as structural element in architecture, and as a way for designers to communicate their vision in building or refurbishing a house.
This year, most projects will focus on interiors, public areas, and using tiles and ceramics as functional tools. For the first time in the exhibition history, several ceramics-manufactu ring enterprises will be showcasing products designed by the students, in a bid to make the most of creative thinking and to reinvent Italian ceramics design in an ever-developing framework of use.
