ACF Plans Design CompetitionThree major universities in Georgia, Alabama and Florida will be invited to participate in a five-year competition to provide excellence in design for communities along the Apalachicola Chattahoochee Flint River Basin, it was announced Wednesday.
Auburn University, the University of Florida and the University of Georgia environmental design schools would each be invited to form teams to compete for the Asiyahola Cup Design Competition, said George Dick, regional development associate for the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government. The announcement came during Rivers Corridors Summit II, held at the restored Tarrer Inn in Colquitt.
It was also announced that application has been made for a $252,000 federal grant to hire a full-time professional for two years to help operate the new Riverway South organization intended to promote development and tourism in the ACF river corridor region.
