RIBA Introduces Free Student MembershipOn 29 September the RIBA Council, following a presidential initiative, approved free membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for students of architecture. This will take effect from January 2005, and around 10,500 students of RIBA validated and candidate courses in the UK are expected to benefit.
The RIBA is offering two types of membership: basic and advanced.
For a £30 annual fee, advanced membership also confers an annual subscription to the RIBA Journal in addition to the benefits listed above.
Students interested in registering for their free membership should visit RIBA website.
Paul Newman, RIBA Director of Membership and Client Services, commented:
“This is a great opportunity for students of architecture to discover what membership of an internationally respected institution like the RIBA can do for them. It’s also critical that the RIBA engages with the future practitioners of architecture at an early stage and develops the profession in concert with them. The Institute extends a warm welcome to the thousands of students eligible to join in the near future.”
