New Design for NY Olympic StadiumA new design has been unveiled for a stadium planned for New York's West Side that would be used for the 2012 Olympics. Meanwhile, NYC 2012 bid leader Dan Doctoroff returns from visits to Paris and London where he's been promoting the U.S. bid.
The new design for the stadium chops 100 feet from the height of the arena, lowering its profile overlooking the Hudson River. The new design was unveiled by the New York Jets, the NFL club that will build the stadium.
The redesign is a move meant to boost public opinion for the $1.4 billion project, attacked for its size and impact on the community as well as the cost.
Votes by two state of New York bodies are scheduled this month that are the last two needed to begin construction.
Bid leader Dan Doctoroff returns to New York following a week in Europe that included forays into Paris and London to discuss the bid with the local press.
