Armani to Design Dubai Luxury HotelsGiorgio Armani's sense of style will soon be gracing luxury hotels in the desert hub of Dubai, including one in the world's tallest building, currently under construction, the local press reported.
The Italian fashion designer's vision will be seen in the interiors and amenities of seven hotels and three resorts in Dubai, a one billion dollar project being handled by Dubai-based developer EMAAR Properties.
Armani himself is expected to oversee all fashion aspects of the hotels and resorts under a deal signed with EMAAR.
The first hotel is expected to open by 2008, and will be located in the Burj Dubai building. When completed, Burj Dubai will be the world's tallest residential and commercial building, at some 800 metres (2,500 feet) high.
"This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Armani story," Armani said.
The Versace fashion house is also expected to open a glamorous hotel in Dubai in 2008, complete with its own temperature-contro lled beach.
Affluent Dubai, a member of the seven-strong United Arab Emirates federation, is in the midst of a construction frenzy, with resorts, malls and residential complexes sprouting up across its desert sands.
