Hotel Puerta America Designed by John Pawson Opened its Doors to the PublicMadrid's five-star Hotel Puerta America, commissioned by Spanish hotel company Silken Hotels, has opened its doors to the public.
A celebration of avant-garde interior design and architecture, Hotel Puerta America brings together 19 of the world's finest architects and designers-includin g Zaha Hadid, John Pawson, Ron Arad, and Norman Foster-in a unique hospitality experience that's the talk of the continent.
The hotel has 12 floors, 308 standard rooms, 12 suites, and 22 junior suites and offers a wide variety of aesthetic environments.
Designed by John Pawson, the hotel foyer, reception, and meeting rooms offer a sense of tranquility in the heart of the hotel.
This effect is achieved through his use of natural wood and a semi-circular reception area that shelters guests from the constant motion passing through the lobby.
Marmo Bar, designed by London-based Marc Newson, features Statuario Venato white marble weighing more than six tons.
The walls and ceilings are lined with 400 thin strips of laser-cut aluminum.
Combining Spanish culture from the regions of Galicia, Catalonia, and Andalusia, Christan Liaigre fashioned the restaurant's decor with leather and rich woods, providing a cozy, meticulously lit space for dining.
Each of the hotel's 12 floors bears the imprint of a different design talent.
