AJN won the Competition for the Genoa Trade Fair's New PavilionAJN has won a competition for the Genoa Trade Fair's new Pavilion B.
The project is the first step toward in the Trade Fair's plans to progressively renovate the entire area.
The new 30 000m2 building will host the Genoa Boat Show, one of the most prestigious shows of its kind in Europe.
Two exhibition halls will face the sea and the marina.
The upper hall will function as a covered terrace; the lower hall will bring the quayside into the building.
Both halls will be open towards the sea and will allow natural daylight to penetrate deep into the building.
Beneath the upper terrace, a restaurant and meeting rooms will take advantage of the serene view over the moored boats and periodic special events in the harbor.
The project is on a fast track: preliminary design documents were handed over in July 2005 and architectural studies will be completed by November 2005.
The new pavilion will open in time for the 2007 Boat Show.
