Winner of the Edmonton Art Gallery Design Competition AnnouncedTony Luppino, EAG Executive Director, along with Allan Scott, EAG Chairman of the Board of Directors announced that the winning architect for what will now be called the Art Gallery of Alberta is Randall Stout of Los Angeles.
"It is an honour to be chosen from among such distinguished colleagues," said Randall Stout once he had been given the news.
"I look forward with great excitement to crafting architecture that serves the Gallery's New Vision of programming for the people of Edmonton and all of Alberta."
"We are delighted to announce Randall Stout as the winner of our architectural competition," said Allan Scott.
"We were presented with four exceptional designs and we owe each of the finalist teams a debt of gratitude for giving the New Vision competition world class vibrancy.
This is a thrilling time and we look forward to building an Art Gallery for Alberta's future."
Gary Mar, Minister of Community Development responsible for the arts announced an Alberta Government investment of $15 million into the new Gallery.
The provincial gift together with the Government of Canada Alberta Centennial Grant worth $10 million ensures the project's future and mutually celebrates the new Art Gallery of Alberta.
