SFA Selects Ballpark ArchitectAfter three architectural presentations and recommendations from SFA administration, the SFA board of regents on Wednesday hired Leo A. Daly, a Houston-based architectural and engineering firm, and partner Sports Plan Studio of Kansas City, Mo., to build SFA's new baseball/softball complex.
Leo A. Daly has a solid reputation in Texas and has previous experience specifically designing baseball complexes, according to SFA athletic director Robert Hill, whose opinion the regents solicited in the choosing of an architect.
"I see 30 to 40 college campuses a year, and I always look at their facilities and ask who built them," Hill said.
"Leo A. Daly is a highly respected firm.
Particularly, the people at Sam Houston State University were really happy with the complex they recently designed for them."
During its presentation, Leo A. Daly touted its experience in designing sports facilities, including those for a number of Texas schools that include the University of Houston, Texas A&M University, Baylor University, the University of Texas and Texas Christian University.
According to SFA physical plant director John Rulfs, the other two firms competing for the new baseball facilities, HKS and F&S Partners, lacked sufficient experience in collegiate sports facilities.
Rulfs recommended Leo A. Daly, as well.
