The American Institute of Architects, California Council (AIACC) announces the 2006 Firm Award recipient, Architectural Resources Group (ARG).
This award is the most significant honor awarded to a firm by the AIACC and recognizes firms who have consistently produced distinguished architecture, contributing to the advancement of the profession in areas of design, research, planning, technology, preservation and innovation.
Architectural Resources Group was founded in 1980 with the belief that historic buildings play an important role in communities, creating places that have value and meaning.
As a full-service architectural firm, ARG promotes an integrated design process involving architectural design, sustainability, and preservation.
The firm believes that older buildings can coexist with contemporary uses in positive ways for both the user and community at large.
The firm's staff of 50 includes architects, designers, planners, historians, and materials conservators who work together as a group.
This integrated approach allows key design, preservation, and sustainability decisions to be integrated into the architectural design process.
The goal is to further architecture through preservation which extends far beyond the firm's practice.
