MulvannyG2 Architecture Celebrates Winning China Design ProjectMulvannyG2 Architecture wins a major competition to add to its impressive portfolio of design projects in China.
In an international competition among four firms, MulvannyG2 was chosen to develop a master plan for Qingdao Technological University in Qingdao, a major port city in China.
"This is a remarkable opportunity, a true rarity among projects.
This victory will establish close ties with the Qingdao community and MulvannyG2 for years into the future," said Ming Zhang, Senior Partner and Design Director.
"To be chosen among three other competing firms, one German and the other two local Chinese companies, is a testament to our design capabilities and solid reputation in China."
Qingdao Technological University is a top university with enrollment of about 20,000 students in 16 schools and is ranked in the top 10 percent of technology schools in China.
The competition was created to identify the best designer for its new 217.5 acre campus.
This site is nestled in a valley surrounded by forests.
Part of MulvannyG2's vision, and also one of the reasons the firm was chosen, is its emphasis on integrating this unique natural setting into the university campus.
"Making this an ecologically responsive campus is a high design priority for us," said Peter Lian, Design Principal.
