Ricardo Legorreta: New Museum Architect Promises More ColorArchitect Ricardo Legorreta is still dreaming of what the new Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will look like.
He promises one thing, though.
"We can assure you it will have some color," he said, smiling broadly.
Legorreta and his son and partner, Victor, arrived in Fort Worth on Thursday for the formal announcement that the museum will demolish its 52-year-old building next year and build a $65 million building on the same site.
Legorreta, a world-renowned architect who uses bold colors in his landscape-influenced architecture, was selected for the design, which some say further cements the Cultural District's reputation for architectural distinction.
The museum's leaders also announced that the new museum will house the collection of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Museum and that the capital campaign already has commitments for close to half of the goal, despite not having gone public yet.
