AIA Announces Show You're Green AwardsToday, at The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2006 National Convention and Design Expo, the AIA Housing and Custom Residential Knowledge Community announced the winners of the "Show You're Green" awards.
The eight projects were chosen as excellent examples of outstanding housing that is aesthetically appealing while meeting "green" sustainable design guidelines.
The knowledge community invited "Show You're Green" submissions from architects and developers around the nation.
Over the next few months, the winning projects will be showcased in the online design tool: Affordable Housing Design Advisor to demonstrate the diverse ways in which green practices are being used and integrated in excellent multi-unit housing.
Gita Dev, FAIA, "Show You're Green" awards jury chair said, "There is a misconception that green design is just about solar panels.
This award program aims to showcase the wide range of ways that architects have included green elements in aesthetically excellent, affordable designs.
Such principles can be easily incorporated by developers to green their housing projects and will have a lasting, positive impact on the surrounding community."
