For almost thirty years, the Aspen Art Museum has opened up its doors to the community and showcased the artwork produced in the Roaring Fork Valley in its biennial Roaring Fork Open exhibition.
The exhibition is open to all artists residing in the valley from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.
Following the overwhelming success of the 2005 Roaring Fork Open, the museum's Director and Chief Curator, Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson, will once again meet with each participant and select a work for inclusion in the exhibition.
The 2007 Roaring Fork Open represents the Aspen Art Museum's ongoing investment in sustaining a vibrant arts community in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) was one of the last great artists in the ukiyo-e tradition.
Literally meaning "pictures of the floating world", ukiyo-e refers to the famous Japanese woodblock print genre that originated in the 17th century and is practically synonymous with the Western world's visual characterization of Japan.
Though Hiroshige captured a variety of subjects, his greatest talent was in creating landscapes of his native Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and his most famous work was a series known as "100 Famous Views of Edo" (1856-1858).
This book provides an introduction to his work and an overview of his career.

This is the first major public exhibition by artist Enrico David, including paintings, works on paper, sculptures and vitrines from the last five years, as well as two large-scale installations.
David is Italian by birth but based in London, and over the last decade has quietly established a reputation as one of Britain's most original artists.
This exhibition will demonstrate some of the ongoing strands within his work, which borrows from craft and design techniques and often features stylised figures staged within erotic or tragic-comic scenarios.

Tim Meagher uses his own visual language in a refreshing way to create innovative art forms.
His work is expressive, dynamic and thoughtful; it draws upon his own experiences as well much wider issues.
This exhibition celebrates Meagher's work from the 1980s to the present day.
It shows how he has developed from making boxes to paintings and sculptural pieces.
A recurrent theme throughout is our relationship with the environment.
This theme is conveyed through pictorial symbolism, for example, a plane or car which is juxtaposed with the beauty of a landscape feature which recalls his time spent in Australia and New Zealand.
More recent work shows the influence of Spanish culture, especially Flamenco.
Recycled materials are used as well, for example packaging forms the 'canvas' for Portrait of Romy, 2003.
In terms of art historical influences, Meagher sites artists such as Jean-Michel Basquait as inspirational.
Meagher began making leather boxes in the early 1980s.
He was attracted to the flexibility of leather as a material - it can be cut, carved, incised, bent, stitched and painted.
Making something which could be functional and express ideas appealed as well.
His boxes challenge the defining line between craft and fine art and their decoration is a modern take on ancient myths, for example Orpheus and Eurydice.
