The Wolfsonian-Florida International University presents the exhibition X: A Decade of Collecting from September 1, 2005 to January 15, 2006.
The exhibition is an overview of the growth of The Wolfsonian's collection since its opening 10 years ago.
X: A Decade of Collecting highlights more than 200 objects obtained through donation or acquisition that add depth and breadth to the collection's strong foundation of art and design.
This celebration of The Wolfsonian's first decade provides an opportunity to reflect on its growth while pointing to signs of exhibitions to come.
Some of the exhibition highlights include Cass Gilbert's dramatic ornamental finial, a gift of the Chase Manhattan Corporation, from the 1913 Woolworth Building-New York's so-called Cathedral of Commerce, which combined Gothic design with modern technology; Alexander Z. Kruse's searing satirical portraits of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Adolf Hitler, a gift from Mrs. Kathreen Kruse in memory of Martin Alexander Kruse; and vibrant Cuban graphics from the 1920s to 1950s, gifted by Vicki Gold Levi.
"X: A Decade of Collecting provides an amazing opportunity to examine and evaluate our collection's growth since 1995. From a curatorial standpoint, it is exciting to survey the group as a whole, see how the shape of the collection has evolved, and where it can grow in

The Zentrum Paul Klee - located in Bern and designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano - opened its doors to the public for the first time at 9 a.m. on Monday, 20 June 2005.
The Zentrum Paul Klee is more than a museum - it is a place where people of all ages, social and cultural backgrounds will be able to actively involve themselves with art, to lasting effect.
The activities revolve around the life and work of Paul Klee and the largest collection of a single artist's talent anywhere in the world - over 4,000 items.
The Zentrum Paul Klee is devoted to one of the twentieth century's most important artists.
Klee lived more than half his life in Bern, and the Centre houses over 4,000 of his works - 40 per cent of his total output - making it the world's largest monographic collection of art.
Taking its cue from Klee's polymathy - he was a painter, musician, teacher, writer and philosopher - the Zentrum Paul Klee is setting its sights on presenting in detail the artist in all his eclectic diversity by means of extensive interdisciplinary exchanges of all genres of art.
In order to establish links between fine art and music, a venue is needed: a first-class one has been provided in the form of an auditorium able to seat 300 people, and it comes complete with an in-house orchestra - the Ensemble

The Louvre, like the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, holds one of the most important Islamic Art collections in the world.
The adjacent Decorative Arts museum owns another 3,000 objects that have not been shown in public for over 20 years.
The two collections will come together in a two-story, 36,000 square-foot design by Milanese architect Mario Bellini and Rudy Ricciotti, a French architect based in Bandol, in the south of France.
Bellini and Ricciotti were chosen in a competition that also included Zaha Hadid and Coop Himmelblau.
Their design will fill most of the ground floor of the Cour Visconti, a courtyard within the southernmost wing of the Louvre.
A second underground level will be accessible from galleries created by Pei.
A shimmering, undulating glass roof, made up of glass disks, will allow diffused sunlight to penetrate into the space.
It also offers visitors glimpses of the surrounding neo-classical facades.
It is, say the designers, "architectural integration without violence."
It is also a very open design with no superfluous circulation space.
Instead linear benches are used to divide thematic spaces.
Set to open in 2009, the $67 million project benefited from a $20 million donation from Saudi Prince Walid bin Talal.
