Domestic Dystopia: a Photography Exhibition by Ho Hui MayKay Ngee Tan Architects Gallery is pleased to present Domestic Dystopia, an exhibition showcasing works by photographer Ho Hui May, first prize winner of the 26th UOB painting of the year award, Photography category.
Hui May Ho is a photographer and a lecturer.
She received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Academy of Art College, San Francisco 2000; and an MFA from the Museum School / Tufts University.
She has recently exhibited at the Singapore Art Show 2007, and has shown at the Esplanade in Singapore as well as at numerous venues in San Francisco, Boston and Singapore, including the Judi Rotenberg Gallery, Somerville Art Museum, and artSPACE@16 in Malden.
She has also won prestigious awards overseas.
Ho has taught at the Millennium Institute in Singapore, at the Museum School on a Graduate Teaching Fellowship, and is currently lecturing at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore.
As a photographer, Ho has always believed in "making use of all situations".
She embraces ephemerality, and is drawn to physical evidence which she believes indicate the inevitable gradation of a culture.
Recently, her work has become more personal, propelled by memories she has had from moving from place to place.
This is her first solo exhibition since returning from overseas.
Domestic Dystopia provides an insight into six interiors of dilapidated houses in Singapore.
