Real Uncertain: A Conversation Between Painting and PhotographyMost of us know about the world around us from photography more than from anything else.
Even with today's airbrushing and digital manipulation, to see an image photographed is to know something viscerally about what it depicts, in ways that written or spoken language can never convey.
In contrast, painting seems more fantastical, with connotations of imagination and artistic license.
Real Uncertain: A Conversation Between Painting and Photography, explores the complex interchange between these two disciplines, and brings together diverse works by artists Todd Brainard, Miranda Lichtenstein, and James Lorigan, who challenge viewers to look beyond the surface of a work, tilting perceptions out of the comfort zone to create new visions of familiar objects.
