Lawrence Weiner: Talking ArtIn 1968 Lawrence Weiner, one of the key figures of Conceptual art, formulated his famous Declaration of Intent:
1. The artist may construct the piece.
2. The piece may be fabricated.
3. The piece need not be built.
Each being equal and consistent with the intent of the artist the decision as to condition rests with the receiver upon the occasion of receivership'.
After a prolific career of more than forty years, his art remains singularly relevant today.
Following his highly acclaimed retrospective "As far as the eye can see" (Whitney Museum of American Art, New York), Lawrence Weiner discusses his work with art historian and critic John Slyce.
