Marksman Design Award 2005 - 2006
Students all over the world will plug in their innovations Challenge Marksman Design Award 2005-2006: 'mobile electronic business accessory'

Without laptop, mobile phone and Internet connection it's impossible for managers and business executives to work anytime, anywhere. Today all kinds of mobile peripherals and electronic business accessories can be connected to PCs, laptops and mobile phones. The Marksman Design Award 2005-2006 links up with this trend, and challenges students all over the world to design a 'mobile electronic business accessory' for use in the office, in business and while travelling.
The Marksman Design Award is an international design competition for students of (industrial) design, and is being held for the fifth time since it started in 2000. The competition challenges students around the world to come up with an innovative and trendsetting business gift. This year's assignment is to conceive an entirely new or innovative mobile electronic business accessory, or to make an astonishing redesign of an already accessory.
Judgment The competing entries will be judged on the criteria of originality, functionality and commercial viability, along with the way in which the student justifies his or her design. The jury will also consider whether the design is suitable for mass production, and whether it fits within the Marksman collection. This is PF Concept International's prestigious catalogue of the highest-quality innovative business gifts with the emphasis on design.
Prizes The first prize of the Marksman Design Award 2005-2006 is US$ 10,000. In addition, if the winning concept is considered suitable and if the design meets the commercial viability requirement, PF Concept International may decide to put the design into production. The second prize is US $2,500 and the third prize US$ 1,000. The jury may also award five honorable mentions, each with a prize of US$ 500.
International Jury Design entries will be judged by an international jury. The jury comprises:
- Eero Miettinen (chairman), Group Design Director of Nokia Design and former teacher at several design education institutes in Finland. - Michelle Berryman, a rising star in the United States industrial design world and a founding principal in Echo Visualization. - Darlie O Koshy, Executive Director of the National Institute of Design in India. - Albert van der Veen, Product Director of PF Concept International BV, the Netherlands. - Tjeerd Dijkstra, Research & Development Director of PF Concept International, the Netherlands.
