Photoreal Toy Competition
PHOTOREAL TOY COMPETITION October 14, 2004 Chicago, IL

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Contacts: Bart Brejcha, 312.226.8339 brejcha@design-engine.com Design-engine.com, one of the leading online design publications, which highlights innovations and advances in the design industry, announced earlier today that they are now accepting entries for their 2004 International Photoreal Toy Design Competition.
They have assembled a barrel of monkeys this time (pun intended). Industry leaders in the toy design industry have decided to lend their expertise in critiquing this competition's entries. This is the forth design competition hosted by Design-engine.com. The first was held at the turn of the century, which focused on photoreal chair designs. When asked about the inspiration for the event, Bart Brejcha, founder and editor-in-chief of Design-engine.com, said he wanted to create a competition that showcased the infinite potential of photo realistic computer renderings and the impact these Computer Aided, life-like renderings have had or could have on the ability to communicate toy design to manufacturers and the buying public.
The third competition which was held in 2003, focused on computer-generated renderings of furniture: innovative seating. "Last year's competition was a huge success. It drew international responses from designers and corporations around the globe," said Brejcha. "Everyone who entered used the competition as a platform to showcase their design capabilities and communicate their methodologies through the Design-engine.com website. Once the winners were announced, Design-engine.com received approximately 20 thousand visitors per day for well over a week. The competition created a buzz in the furniture design industry."
"With the continuation of the prize list, I'm confident the 2004 photoreal toy product competition will receive just as many entries from last year and further evoke and inspire us all with innovative toy concepts."
He went on to say that this year, Design-engine.com is doing everything possible to broaden the scope of the entries. "We will be seeking submissions from all over the world with special attention paid to gathering a significant amount of designs from Asian professional and student product designers, industrial designers, and toy designers. (The Awards Entry Forms have been translated into both Korean and Japanese to assure that everyone can submit their work)" said Brejcha. All eligible submissions will be judged and the winners selected by a panel of internationally recognized designers: (we are waiting confirmation from several industry professionals)
