Gold Nugget Awards
The premier building show and builder magazine proudly announce the most prestigious design awards in the nation-The 43rd Annual Gold Nugget Awards, open to builders, developers, architects and land planners with projects in the 14 Western states and all international countries.
Winners of Grand, Merit, and Special Awards will be individually honored at the Gold Nugget Awards Ceremonies at PCBC 2006, The Premier Building Show. They will be included in a professionally produced Winners' Book, distributed at the ceremonies. Selected winners will also be part of a multi-page feature by BUILDER magazine, co-sponsor of Gold Nuggets and official publication of the National Association of Home Builders. All entrants will be included in photo displays of the Gold Nugget Gallery, a special feature of PCBC 2006.
Eligible Entries
Any project or development that was open for sale, lease or rental at any time after January 1, 2005, unless otherwise indicated. In the United States, projects from the following states are eligible: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. International projects in any or all international countries are eligible. Previous Merit Award winners are eligible for the 2006 program, if they meet eligibility criteria described.
Previous Grand Award winners are not eligible in the same category, unless there have been distinct design changes. Projects for which the architect or builder is a member of the 2006 panel of judges are not eligible for the 2006 Gold Nugget competition.
How to Enter?
Review the categories and make your selections. Complete entry applications for each and return with a check for the entry fees payable to Gold Nugget Awards no later than March 31, 2006. An Entry Application Form must be completed for each entry. For multiple entries photocopy a blank form to produce as many forms as necessary. Please supply all information requested in typewritten format. Keep a copy of each entry form you submit.
Entry Fee
The fee for each entry is $295. You may submit as many entries as you wish in each category, but each requires the fee of $295. You may submit one check for the total, payable to Gold Nugget Awards. Or pay by VISA/Mastercard/ AMEX
Deadlines
March 31: Entry Applications must be received by the Gold Nugget Awards.
April 14 : Final deadline; all completed submissions must be received by the Gold Nugget Awards.
April 21: LATE Entry Deadline please add $50 per entry.
Judging
Each entry will be judged on its own merits by a panel of distinguished individuals selected for professional expertise in design, planning and building. Gold Nugget Awards reserves the right to combine or eliminate any category or categories due to insufficient entries. GNA also reserves the right to create new categories if the judges believe it is warranted. Judges may re-categorize an entry if they believe it has been entered in the wrong category, or is better suited to another category. Special Awards for specific innovations may be presented at the Judges' discretion.
Judging Criteria
Judging Criteria will include compatibility and harmony of the project to its environment; consideration of geographic and climatic conditions; use of appropriate and meaningful building forms and materials; inclusion of careful and innovative detailing; striving for special and unique design solutions to the position aimed at and success achieved.
Notification
Entrants who earn an Award of Merit will be notified by early May. These award winners are finalists for the Grand Award. Finalists will be posted on the Gold Nugget web site by May 15th.
