The Cresta Awards
The Cresta Awards, which honor an absolute standard of creative excellence in international advertising and marketing communications since 1993, has issued the call for entries in its 14th worldwide competition. This year marks a new dimension for the Cresta Awards as it introduces a Jury President and restructures its competitions to include the following: Press, Poster, Ambient Media, TV/Cinema, and Interactive.
Creative Standards International, the Cresta Awards is pleased to announce its selection for 2006 Jury President, Ms. Kitty Lun, General Manager and Executive Creative Director of Arnold Worldwide Partners, Shanghai. A 25-year veteran of North Asia's advertising (Leo Burnett, McCann-Erickson and Euro RSCG) and media industries, Ms. Lun's creative experience is that of a trailblazer, both for Asian women breaking into the business and for the rising crop of local creatives. She has won numerous advertising awards, has chaired and judged various awards shows and is a frequent lecturer. Currently she also serves on several community boards for the Hong Kong Government. "Having had the privilege to judge the Cresta Awards in previous years, I feel really excited and honored to be invited to chair the 2006 judging panel. I find the judging process unbiased and consistent to the award's mission - to establish the ABSOLUTE creative standard. From China's perspective, I hope Cresta will be even more widely accepted and aspired by the ever-growing generation of young creatives. To enter their own work and to appreciate the award winners will be a source of inspiration and advancement", said Ms. Lun.
For 2006, the top entry in each competition (Press, Poster, Ambient Media, TV/Cinema, and Interactive) will be awarded the Grand Prix. All entries will be screened by several juries, who will compile a short-list of finalists that will be submitted to an International Grand Jury of expert creative directors, film specialists and graphic artists. Short-listed interactive entries will be judged by a separate Grand Jury of interactive experts. Work will be judged on originality of the creative idea and quality of its execution.
The Cresta Awards previously rewarded outstanding entries in three competitions: TV/Cinema; Press/Outdoor and Interactive. In 2005, Wieden & Kennedy, London, won Cresta's highest honor for TV/Cinema advertising, the Grand Prix, for its "GRRR" television spot for the Honda Diesel. The Press/Outdoor Grand Prix was awarded to Foote, Cone & Belding of Lisbon for its five item magazine campaign for Grande Reportaem Magazine. And, the Interactive Grand Prix was captured by Neue Digitale in Frankfurt for its adidas Originals website.
The 2005 Cresta Awards received more than 4,000 entries from 50 countries. Of those, 68 entries from 19 countries were winners. Selection criteria were originality of the creative idea and quality of its execution.
On Monday, 30 October 2006, winners will be announced in an online show at the Cresta Awards website. This exciting electronic event will allow winners from all parts of the world to participate in the awards presentation.
The Cresta Awards are open to all advertising agencies, advertisers, studios, and production companies worldwide. Both national and international campaigns may compete. All visual advertising and marketing communications used since 1 January 2005 are eligible as entries.
The deadline for entries is Friday 10 March 2006. The entry fee for single items is $200/each. The entry fee for campaigns consisting of a series of ads for the same product or service is $125/item.
