Surviving Fuorisalone
The objective of the Surviving Fuorisalone contest is to represent from a creative viewpoint - in a free way: ironic, sarcastic, comic, as a documentary, an advertising etc... - a project, an idea, an intuition designed to guide the visitor through the experience of a complex event.
These solutions are to become the Fuorisalone Surviving Kit and will be exhibited in 3M Superstudio Pił, the hart of Zona Tortona during the design week, from 5 to 10 of April 2006.
Topic of the contest The term complex event refers to the entire happening taking place in widespread locations and in defined times; various events or performances occur in several places around the city all linked together by a reference system, in this particular case the FUORISALONE.
Various are the events in such communication system, mainly linked to different fields i.e. entertainment or commercial promotion, but all patterned upon an identical repeatable model that present the same subjects and interaction methods.
The presented projects - in the field of product, fashion or visual communication, designed with the intention to solve at least one of the problems concerning the event use - will be part of the Fuorisalone Surviving Kit.
Four macro-areas of design are proposed: Communication, Enjoy, Moving and Protection. These areas emerge from the two dimensions of the event: the personal one and the global one. In the personal dimension the subject will be analysed in its "moving" and "protecting", in the global dimension the subject is considered within the system of relations that the event produces: "communication" and "enjoy".
Communication - Enjoy - Moving - Protection Communication: during an event it is very important to communicate with other people, be in touch with our contacts network and with the general framework having the possibilities to tell our friends that something special is going on and share or find information about it in real time. Enjoy: it is important to collect as much literature as possible, not to let the best gadgets slip and to have both hands free for the most exclusive cocktail.
Moving: a complex event covers a very large area, it could even be several towns at the same time, therefore it's very important to move alone or in company easily, quickly, safely and with confidence of the objective. Furthermore it's often necessary to move with a lot of stuffs collected during the path (gadgets, books, invitations...).
Protection: a complex event takes place both in locations and in open spaces as squares, streets or parks. The weather is of importance for the event, and very often during the fuorisalone it's raining. Protecting also means taking a break finding a space to relax and slow down.
The projects must arrive to the organization at the latest by March 20, 2006.
