The Michelin Design Challenge 2004
VW Westfalia redesigned by Verdier
Design Contest Evokes New Westfalia Idea
Michelin sponsors a design challenge to designers, students and individuals with the creative touch to create innovative automotive designs. One design for this year is the VW Westfalia created by a team of Canadian designers called Verdier .
It’s a neat re-design and a well put-together presentation.
The main purpose of the redesign of the Westfalia is to bring back a passion. The objective behind that project is to restore, using today's technology, the primary function of the the VW Westfalia which is to be a small mobile home built to appreciate all benefits from week-end in the country.
The vehicle is more than a simple object; it defines a way of living.
The project was awarded the "The Michelin Design Challange 2004" and will be showcased at the Detroit Car Show in January 2005.
The project is now at the stage of establising a partnership with a car manufacturer in order to produce a functional prototype.
