Thaw 2006 Call for Submissions
IDEA is looking to showcase medium to large sized furniture, accessories and lighting designs for THAW 2006. THAW is one of largest contemporary design exhibits in Western Canada, and will take place during The Works Art and Design Festival from June 23rd to July 5th, 2006. The objective of this exhibit is to continue to explore the relationship between the designer and the end user and to provide public awareness in sustainably designed products. They have introduced themselves to the persona of Agnès Petterson, who is the inspiration behind all designs submitted. Attached you will find a lighthearted questionnaire that Agnès has filled out in order for you to acquaint yourself with her. Designs should be based on your interpretation of her personality and lifestyle. However, the intention is not to custom design to her lifestyle but to envision her as the consumer or end user. What would Agnès buy? Selection will be based on your interpretation, product quality, originality, innovative use of material, and aesthetic appeal.
All items must be listed for sale with price to be decided by the designer. Proceeds from the sale of items will be divided as follows: THE WORKS: 25% IDEA: 5% DESIGNER(s): 70%
Submission Guidelines > All designs must be original works and exempt of any copyrights > JPEG image of product (computer renderings and sketches accepted) > Short explanation of idea behind the design stating how the design is related to Agnès Petterson (no more than 4-5 sentences) > Designers name, phone number, and email address > Product name, dimensions, and material description > Sale price > Maximum of three pieces per designer may be submitted for consideration
