Images 31: the Best of British Contemporary Illustration 2007
Deadline: Monday, 31st July 2006, 5pm
The Association of Illustrators (AOI) invites illustrators and commissioners to enter their best work in the 31st Images competition, the UK's premier jury-selected illustration award, annual and exhibition.
Images features the most influential and innovative contemporary British illustration in the categories Advertising, Books, Design, Editorial, Self-promotion and Student.
Entering the Images competition gives illustrators the unique opportunity to have their work judged by an internationally recognised panel of highly regarded commissioners, well-known illustrators, art directors and design critics.
The AOI is particularly proud of the strong panel of judges for Images 31, which includes Angelo Ferrara, Art Director at Wolff Olins, Steven Heller, Art Director at New York Times Book Review and Co-chair of the MFA Design Department at the School of Visual Arts, New York, Izhar Cohen, Illustrator, Paris, Nathan Gale, Art Director at Creative Review, John Hamilton, Art Director at Penguin Books and Anita O'Brian, Curator at Cartoon Museum.
The award winning entries and jury-selected works will be published in the Images annual. More than 4000 copies of the annual will be distributed free of charge to a specially targeted audience worldwide, assuring the selected entries important exposure to professionals within the creative industries. The annual also carries contact details of the illustrators represented. With its revised structure and features like the Critic's Award and New Talent section which showcases the best of today's students, the Images annual justifies its position as the essential source tool for leading industry professionals as well as academics, students and practitioners.
All winners will be unveiled at the Awards Night at a London venue in August. The original artworks featured in Images 31 will also be on display in London before the Images exhibition goes on tour between September 2006 and August 2007.
The entry form is available on the AOI website http://www.theaoi.com where it can be completed online or downloaded.
Deadline: Monday, 31st July 2006, 5pm
