2nd Roca International Design Competition: Wellness

Roca launches this competition in cooperation with BCD, Barcelona Design Centre with the objective of providing a platform for young creatives, offering them the opportunity and the freedom to design a personal environment for wellbeing in the bathroom.
The theme of this competition is wellness, whilst the elements comprising Roca's wellness line are: hydromassage columns, whirlpool baths and steam/sauna cabins.
The competition aims to generate new visions regarding these and similar products, new solutions, new formal, functional and technological spaces for wellness products.
The creativity behind proposals should not be conditioned by questions of feasibility, though projects should be designed to be installed in a bathroom around 15 square metres in size and to stand alongside the usual elements.
Extending the eligible area for entries from the first version, Roca has chosen eight countries to take part in this second competition: France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Participants can be individuals or groups. Each individual or group may take part in only one project. Those eligible to take part are students of product and/or interior design or architecture, and young designers and architects. All must be born in or after 1971 and must be resident in one of the eight eligible countries. There will be a single winner, and the selected project will receive a prize of €4,000.
In order to publicise the result of this competition among an appropriate audience, Roca will present the winning project at the company's stand at the 100% Design 2007 fair in London (United Kingdom) in September 2007. Moreover, the author(s) of the project will be invited to attend this event, providing an excellent opportunity for young creatives to become known among international designers, architects and companies.
Projects should reach the Competition Secretariat (BCD, Barcelona Design Centre) by 26 April 2007.
The jury is composed of, among others, the following personalities from the world of design and architecture: Josep Congost, Marie-Marguerite Gabillard, Chris Lefteri, Gabriele Pezzini and Benedetta Tagliabue.
