MANGO International Fashion Awards 2008

 MANGO International Fashion Awards will give young designers throughout the world the opportunity to participate in an international Fashion Design competition.
The Spanish firm Mango launched the second edition of the “el Botón”-MANGO Fashion Awards, an event which aims to promote and increase the international projection of up-and-coming designers. The candidates will have the opportunity to present their collections before a prestigious jury and opt for a prize of 300,000 euros, the largest sum offered to date in a competition of this nature.
The new registration period started on 1 May 2008 and designers will have until 31 July 2008 to present their applications.
The jury, made up of representatives of MANGO and five prestigious international design schools (Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, London; Institut Français de la Mode, Paris; Istituto Marangoni, Milan; Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp; and l’Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona), will select 10 finalists from all the applications presented.
The first edition of the el Botón-MANGO Fashion Awards featured an outstanding Chairman, the renowned designer Valentino, who handed over the award to the winners, the duo formed by Sandrina Fasoli and Michaël Marson, based in Belgium. They have already started designing what will be their first collection with MANGO for the forthcoming Spring/Summer 09.

Contest Calendar
1 May 2008 – 31 July 2008: Registration period.
September 2008: Selection of the final 50 candidates by the MANGO Committee.
15 October 2008: Selection of the 10 finalists by the First Jury.
November 2008: Announcement of the 10 finalists and awarding of €18,000 to each one.
April 2009: Awards Ceremony and presentation of the shortlisted collections.
