Prix Emile Hermès
With a creative tradition reaching back to 1837, Hermes is pleased to present the Prix Emile Hermes. This triennial prize will be awarded to the best and most innovative design on a chosen theme. In its inaugural year, this will be "la legerete au quotidien - everyday lightness", as applied to objects for travel and the home.
A member of the third generation of the family, Emile Hermes took up the reins of the House after the Great War and held them until 1951. An imaginative visionary with an insatiable curiosity and a keen intuition, he knew how to recognise and identify, during his many travels, the inventions of his time and adapt them to the creations of the House. Since then, Hermes has continued to innovate, while preserving the attention to quality that has always guided it. Rigor of thought in creating the object, its meaning and use, and careful consideration of the smallest details are still the core concerns of the House today.
