Casino Design 2005
Casino Design 2005, the premier conference and networking forum for those responsible for casino design and construction, will take place at Wynn Las Vegas, offering attendees an unprecedented insider's look at the new property that opens this April. In addition to exclusive interior and exterior property tours and a conference session devoted to the innovative design and amenities featured at Wynn Las Vegas, Casino Design, scheduled for June 22-24, will focus on the changing face of the Las Vegas strip, growth in non-gaming amenities and the integration of condo and timeshare projects into casino developments.
"Gaming properties in the U.S. and around the world are undergoing a face-lift, and developers are continually changing their properties in order to maximize business potential," said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. "The role of design has become a critical element in meeting the needs of increasingly sophisticated customers, and Wynn Las Vegas is the perfect example of the evolution of the design ideal. Hosting Casino Design at this new property will allow our attendees to see first-hand where true innovation in design can take us."
A member of Global Gaming Expo's (G2E) portfolio of events, Casino Design brings together commercial and Native American gaming executives, interior and exterior designers, architects, builders, developers and others involved in the planning and development of casinos.
Casino Design 2005 will include a comprehensive exhibition of products and services related to the building, design and construction of casinos worldwide and will feature a dozen in-depth conference sessions, including the June 23 panel "Design Excellence: A Case Study of Wynn Las Vegas." Mark Schorr, president of Wynn Las Vegas, will moderate a discussion among several of the principals involved in the development of the resort.
The opening keynote, set for June 22, will feature Sorin Zdrahal, executive vice president for design at Kerzner International North America, Inc. Zdrahal, who is responsible for design and construction of one of the world's leading gaming and hotel companies, will discuss process management using examples from his experiences managing design and construction projects at the Mohegan Sun, the Atlantis at Paradise Island and a new project in Dubai.
Other speakers at Casino Design will include leading CEOs, project designers, engineers and architects from the casino design field. Session topics will range from current design trends in tribal casinos to the role of engineering and technical aspects in project success to incorporating demographic diversity and target markets into project planning.
"Creating the Hook: The Changing Concept of the Main Event," will bring leading industry designers together to share their insights on the evolution of the central tourist attraction, such as the volcano at the Mirage and the shark tank at Atlantis, and what new attractions are being incorporated into modern casino resorts. Normalynn Cutler, president of Cutler Enterprises, will moderate the session.
Fahrenkopf will moderate "Design for Excellence: Current Trends in Gaming Design," a roundtable of leading developers and casino executives discussing the latest design trends and the impact on their business plans.
"Casino Communities: The Changing Face of Gaming Resorts," will bring together real estate developers and architects involved in recent casino community projects both on and off the Strip to explore the recent explosion of time-share residences and condominiums on the Las Vegas Strip and in other casino communities. The session will examine how these communities are changing their business models for casino construction to accommodate this new type of development.
Additional sessions include "International Interests: Casino Design Around the World," "Future Shock: The Fantasy of Casino Design," and "Non-Gaming Amenities: Dining, Shopping and Entertainment."
