9th edition of the Figures Futur
International contest for illustration
Le Centre de promotion du livre presse jeunesse de Seine-Saint-Denis is now preparing the 9th edition of the Figures Futur international contest for illustration. This contest is open to young illustrators from every country and especially to students registered in the last year of an art school or recently qualified. This contest wants to be a space in which these people can, without any constraint, attempt an original creation, and explore their own imaginary world while defining a new approach to text versus image. It is also a place for artists to confront, to make suggestions and to meet each other as well as the publishing world and the French public.
The specificity of this contest is to invite the candidates to illustrate litterary texts that we propose to them.
The illustrations selected by an international jury will be showed from the coming 24th till 29th November during the 20th Salon du Livre et de la presse jeunesse (Children's Books and Press Fair) which will take place in Montreuil-sous-Bois in the district of Seine-Saint-Denis (near Paris). After that, the exhibition will move around France and abroad.
The jury will present a 7,500 € grant to one of the selected candidates. A bilingual catalogue (French/English) will be proposed with the exhibition.
Theme : The Little Red Riding Hood, Charles Perrault's or the Grimm Brothers' version of the tale.
