'Clouds' by Colleen Baran

Colleen Baran is having a first solo show of jewellery in Vancouver at Dream (Vancouver, Canada). The show, ‘Clouds’, Opens Nov 3rd at 7-9pm and runs from Nov 4th – Dec 11th 2005.
"Clouds" is a show of hand-fabricated jewellery from the "Cloud” Series by Colleen Baran. Select pieces will be accompanied by documentary handmade book works. This is a rare comprehensive view of her newest series.
Baran's work is deceptively simple with a labor-intensive, detailed oriented process. Pieces include multipurpose, multi-finger, multi-part cocktail rings. Forms are cloud-like and abstract, creating mutable narratives. A limited edition publication will be available.
Colleen Baran is a BC based multidisciplinary artist (photography, jewellery, book-works) who has exhibited internationally and published nationally. She has exhibited across Canada and the United States and internationally in Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Finland, Norway and Taiwan. Exhibitions include: The Design Exchange (Toronto), The Triangle Gallery of Visual Arts (Calgary), Surrey Art Gallery (Surrey), Access Artist Run Centre, The Helen Pitt Gallery (Vancouver), Artists Space (New York), The Foundation Gallery (Chicago) The Stenersen Museum (Oslo) and The Center for the Visual Arts of Santiago (Santiago).
