Mansilla + Tuñon: Playgrounds
"By setting the heart of the task in an environment that is both abstract and human, architecture projects become independent and may be considered prior to the existence of a specific place, program or client. The nexus between every project, every action, every thought, and a common area of reflection enables the task to be given an abstract component independent of form, which is later particularized on the basis of the specific conditions. This is one way to explain the thread that connects our projects, through the presence of equality and difference."
Luis Mansilla and Emilio Tuñón are full professors in the architectural design department of the Architecture School of Madrid, and have been visiting professors in Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne and Frankfurt Städelschule. In 1993 they created the thinking cooperative CIRCO, publishing a bulletin with the same name. In 2003 they were awarded the Spanish Architecture Award (Premio Nacional Arquitectura Española 2003). They are the Eliot Noyes Visiting Professors at the Graduate School of Design for the 2006 spring semester.
The exhibition can be viewed until March 19, 2006.
