SE Europe Universal Design Workshop
29-30 September 2006, Chersonissos, Crete, Greece, CANDIA MARIS hotel.
The meeting seeks to highlight the social and economic value of universal design and of the accessibility of the built environment, regardless citizen physical and sensorial abilities. The event seeks to develop into a catalyst for the establishment of a permanent discussion on accessibility in the area, the cross fertilization of good practice as well as the development of business and research cooperation.
The first day will be devoted to experience exchange and presentation of cases of good practice in the area, as regards accessibility. Tools, methodologies and policies for the evaluation and enhancement of accessibility will be the focal point.
The second day will look into the relationship between Accessibility and Tourism, which is the core topic of this, first- of a potential series- event. The active participation of people from the SE Europe/ Med area is therefore particularly sought.

Subsistence costs and transfer to and from the event venue will be however borne by the participants themselves.

The Orange Book, demonstrating good accessibility practice across the EU will be made available free of charge for the English e- version and for 20€ from EMTTU (East Med Technology Transfer Unit) for the paper version.
