The Changing Nature of Innovation and Design
The Changing Nature of Innovation and Design is a discussion with Larry Keeley, co-founder and president of Doblin; Craig Sampson, founder of IDEO Chicago and director of IDEO's healthcare practice; Denis Weil, senior director of innovation planning at McDonald's Corporation; Patrick Whitney, Steelcase/Robert C. Pew Professor and director of the Institute of Design.
This program will comprise short presentations by the panelists, a discussion session including the audience, and a reception for all. Topics will include reliable methods of innovation, linking user value and economic value, innovation and design of services, barriers to innovation inside companies, "D-schools" and why a new type of education is needed now.

Panelists and Discussion Leaders
Larry Keeley Larry Keeley is a strategist who has focused on creating more effective innovation methods for over twenty years. Larry is president and co-founder of Doblin Inc., an innovation strategy firm known for pioneering comprehensive systems that materially improve innovation success rates, based on user-centered methods and metrics. Craig Sampson Craig Sampson is director of IDEO's health care practice and the founder the Chicago office. IDEO works globally helping companies create new products, services, environments, and digital experiences. Craig's areas of knowledge include product planning and marketing, user-centered research and design, materials and manufacturing technology, risk and return analysis, and design and brand strategy. Denis Weil Denis Weil is senior director of Innovation Planning at the McDonald's Corporation and is responsible for orchestrating their global innovation pipeline and for leading the discovery of new high opportunity areas through development of customer insights and advanced concepts. Patrick Whitney Patrick Whitney is the director and the Steelcase/Robert C. Pew Professor at the IIT Institute of Design. His research focuses on structured methods of user understanding, design & strategy, and creating innovations in emerging markets.
