Editoriale Domus and Illycaffè are holding an ideas competition focusing on the rituals surrounding coffee, and new ways of conceiving the coffee bar: as a place to meet, discover and get to know people.
The competition is open to students in faculties of architecture and design institutes and to young planners, artists, architects and designers from all over the world 35 and under.
Groups may enter provided a group leader is identified as responsible for the project.
The judges are:
Anna Barbara - architect and designer;
Stefano Boeri - architect and editor-in-chief of Domus magazine;
Petra Blaisse - landscape architect;
Ludovico Einaudi - musician and composer;
Anselm Franke - curator and contemporary art critic;
Naoto Fukasawa - designer;
Dan Graham - artist;
Alessandro Mendini - architect and designer;
Sergio Silvestris - artistic director for Illycaffè;
Hans Ulrich Obrist - curator and contemporary art critic.
The prizes, before taxation, are: 1st prize 4,000.00 euros - 2nd prize 2,000.00 euros - 3rd prize 1,000.00 euros and 3 Honourable Mentions.
The registration deadline is January 31, 2005.
