10th Annual European Conference with Digital Artist ZE Frank
Sessions Highlight 10 Years of Triumphant Electronic Media Marketing Strategies, Attention Grabbing Promotional Campaigns and Trendsetting Design
Celebrating its 10th annual gathering of electronic media marketers, promotion executives and designers, Promax/BDA EMEA has organized two full days of stimulating speakers, thought-provoking seminars and its most inclusive awards competition to date for its 2006 European Conference, schedule for May 8 and 9 in Vienna, Austria at the Hilton Hotel Vienna (am Stadtpark).
Carmen Alzner, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Promax/BDA EMEA, in announcing the 10th annual event, stated: "For the past nine years, our members from around the world have come together in the capitals for Europe to share ideas and learn from each other. To celebrate our 10th anniversary of gatherings in Vienna, a hallmark for the organization as well as its members, we have planned two days of stimulating discussions and debates that will both challenge and inspire as well as demonstrate the invaluable contributions of our membership in advancing the reach and influence of electronic media."
The two full days of activities begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, 8 May and culminate with Tuesday's (9 May) Promax/BDA Europe Awards ceremony (4:30 - 6:30 p.m.) and will undoubtedly be extended with subsequent celebrations lasting well into the night.
Among the program highlights for the Vienna gathering are a presentation from digital artist and marketing wizard Ze Frank. Called "the Andy Warhol of our generation" and "the century's first Pop digital artist" by MIT media guru John Meada, Frank's personal website, zefrank.com, was listed in Time Magazine's Top 50 Websites of 2005, and is currently visited by over 750,000 people a month. Consulting, researching and teaching in a number of areas including traditional and viral marketing in online spaces, building communities, facilitating conversation with an audience and creative development strategies both for individuals and for companies, Ze Frank has become a virtual phenomenon.
"As creators we can't rely on past formulations about the market to deal with the future," says Frank. "A cellphone is not a small TV, a blog is not a newspaper. The basic kernel of media creation has become so tied to the device or platform it is intended to be consumed on but as each new space emerges, opportunities emerge with it. Gurus do not define these opportunities; consumers do by the way they behave. We don't teach them - they teach us."
Using a mixture of personal stories, real world examples and speculation in a fast-paced and humorous way, Frank will look at ways of thinking about creative development that allow for the unpredictable future.
