Exhibiting Now-On Show
1 June through 25 June
From June 1st to June 25th, eight international exhibition designers will present their views of contemporary exhibition design in Platform 21, the international center for design, fashion and creativity in Amsterdam. In the context of Exhibiting Now-On show!, the participating designers produce a virtual tour through one or more of their exhibitions that are currently on view somewhere in the world. Exhibiting Now-On show! offers a unique opportunity to catch an inside glimpse of how museums function and it allows one to compare their different approaches. If, for example, one designer claims he will never rely on text, another believes that more text is always better. At Platform 21, the eight video shows, projected as a 360 degrees panorama, serve as starting point for various activities.
An Interactive Platform On 2 June a closed expert meeting takes place in which the 8 exhibition designers reflect on their profession. The participants are: Atelier Brückner (Germany), Confino/Alphabeth (France), Bellprat Associates (Switzerland), Opera Ontwerpers (Netherlands), Integral Ruedi Baur (France, Switzerland), Holzer Kobler Architekten (Switzerland), Cassonmann Designers (England) en Kossman.DeJong (Netherlands). In this expert meeting they will share their views, knowledge and experiences regarding exhibition design as a profession.
During Exhibiting Now-On Show!, Platform 21 is turned into a study space for visitors who are interested in the various aspects of putting together exhibitions. Students and professionals may participate in lectures, workshops and debates. An extensive reading table and a DVD of four seminars by participating designers - it was especially made for Exhibiting Now-On show! - provide ample opportunity for a further exploration of the subject.
