Pomed
Pomed is an unique eco-friendly and sustainable special event which merges the World of Interior, Production, Display, Product, and Fashion Design with the World of Activism and Performance Arts. Pomed's sole purpose is to raise monies, supplies, and awareness for the epidemic of violence against our mother earth and her daughters. Created by verte, Pomed will launch during this year's "Until The Violence Stops NYC": a festival of theatre, comedy, spoken word and hip-hop, and performance presented by Eve Ensler's amazing organization V-Day.
June 7-22, 2006 New York City based eco-friendly design and lifestyle studio, verte, will be presenting a unique on-line auction consisting of eco-chic fashion, art, services, along with other unique auction pieces called Pomed: Protect Our Mother Earth Daughters. All proceeds go to the non-profit organization, V-Day. On June 20,2006, as the virtual fund-raiser winds down, verte will also be hosting a ticketed Pomed cocktail party/fund-raiser in at the new hip venue perfectly titled "Element". At Pomed, a unique fashion and photo auction will take place along with raffles of great "Green and Sustainable" products and services.
Proceeds from this event will go to designated non-profits such as "Sanctuary for Families" who works to end domestic violence through outreach, education, and advocacy, and to create a world where every woman and child lives with dignity, "Bpeace", a non-profit coalition of volunteer business people in the US, Canada and Europe who apply their talents, time and money to help women in war-torn regions build sustainable businesses, "Architecture for Humanity-NYC Chapter" a volunteer nonprofit organization set up to promote architecture and design to seek solutions to social and humanitarian issues, "Kids with Cameras" who teaches the art of photography to marginalized children in communities around the world, and "NYC Made", a new social venture that prints New York art on organic shirts and bags using solar power and vegetable dyes. Proceeds go to local gardens in low income neighborhoods that grow plants needed to make their dyes.
